The Powerful Power of God’s Power

“. . .that you may know what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe” (Ephesians 1:19).

When we consider the terrible depths to which we have fallen; when we think about how we were once enslaved to sin; when we evaluate the power of sin even in our lives now; when we hold these things up next to the power of God, none of them stand a chance. God’s power is so much greater than these things, Paul has to string together three different Greek words to describe it. It’s quite literally, “the powerful power of God’s power.” God’s power is a powerful power that can’t be measured.

Do you believe that? Do you believe that when your sin is starring at you talking to you, “you can’t defeat me. I’m too powerful”? When our sin speaks to us this way we need to say, first of all, yes sin is too powerful for me on my own, but by God’s power it’s defeated. And the reason we can say this is because Jesus has defeated sin on the cross. Amen!!! So, let’s find grace today to draw upon the immeasurable greatness of God’s power.
